39 Weeks, Nursery, and Other Randoms

17 May

Well, I’m 39 weeks today. As of 6:00 tomorrow morning I will be further along than I ever have been before. Speaking of being far along… (stop reading if impending labor details gross you out) … I am a whopping SIX cm. And still walking around with very few contractions, feeling way better than I should feel at this point. I’m glad I feel good, but it makes me nervous that labor is nowhere close.

Pretty much every shirt I own has suddenly turned into a belly shirt. I’m constantly pulling and tugging to cover up those two inches of skin peeking out. It’s pretty awesome. And very attractive, I’m sure.
I don’t know if I’ve ever posted pictures of Hudson’s nursery. Or, Hudson’s tiny corner of Ollie’s room, to be more accurate.

I printed out a cute ABC print and made another picture out of paint chips. The dresser/changing table is the same one I had for the other kids. I got a new crib that I love, and got a few other new things, like bedding and some toys.
I took the kids to the zoo this morning, mostly to force myself to walk a lot. Thad joined us for part of it, then we all had a lunch date. The zoo highlights were seeing a kangaroo with a joey in her pouch, the lion pacing along the fence and feeding the giraffes.

We are all getting pretty impatient to meet the newest member of our family, but we’re also taking advantage of our last few days (or weeks…) of being a family of four.

Whoa, SIX!? That’s insane! How are you even walking without a baby falling out?! haha

I feel strangely good this time around too. Barely any contractions, not too much physical pain, and really enjoying the last few days of having just my one little buddy. Such an exciting time and I feel really grateful for it.

I hope you go sooooooon!!! Maybe our babies will have the same birthday. hehe

I check every morning to see if you e gone into labor yet. 🙂 Can’t wait to hear how it all goes! I love reading natural-birth stories.

Well, I was never a 6 until well after “go” time, buuuuut, I always felt great right up until I…did not. So, don’t despair! Best bet: make a plan for something you actually really do want to do and voila, he will come and ruin your plans. Kids hate plans. They can smell them and their “must kill the plan” instinct kicks in. Good luck!

I’m trying to finish a quilt and want to go sailing with my dad and the kids. I’ve been trying to keep myself busy so I don’t dwell on the fact that I’m not in labor yet!

Ok wait. 6 cm? As in dilated 6cm?? How is that possible? In Nashville, they consider you in active labor and automatically admit you if you are dilated past three! Of course they thenaugment your labor if you dont progress fast enough after that. You must have a great (and very accommodating) doctor:)

Pretty crazy, huh? My doctor offered to induce at 39 weeks (which would have been today) but I’d prefer to do it naturally. She was just fine with me waiting, although she said she was surprised a baby hadn’t fallen out yet.
